Invincible Season 2 Is Still Missing A Major Superhero Team From The Comics (That’s Perfect For A Spinoff)

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 2, part 1!

  • Invincible season 2 could introduce The Pact superhero team from the comic series, expanding the superhero world.
  • The Pact could potentially have its own spinoff series, with individual team members capable of carrying their own stories.
  • The addition of The Pact is important to Mark Grayson’s character arc, providing growth and new challenges for Invincible.

Invincible season 2 still hasn’t introduced a major superhero team from the comic series, and the missing team is perfect for a spinoff. The world of Invincible has a lot of superhero and supervillain teams, with the Guardians of the Globe, the Teen Team, the Lizard League, and all kinds of other super groups currently existing in the Amazon Prime Video series. However, there are even more superhero teams in the original Image Comics Invincible series that still haven’t been added to the show, including one popular team that actually features Mark Grayson as a member.

Invincible season 2, part 2 is almost here, with the highly anticipated continuation of Amazon Prime Video’s beloved animated superhero series releasing on March 14, 2024. Invincible season 2 took an interesting approach to its release strategy, with it releasing its first four episodes in late 2023 and its final four episodes in early 2024 after an extended break. Invincible season 2, part 1 already introduced exciting elements like Angstrom Levy, Shapesmith, and the return of the Sequids, but Invincible season 2, part 2 should introduce an even more exciting element from the comics.

10 Invincible Scenes That Won’t Look As Good In The Live-Action Movie

Though the prospect of a live-action adaptation of Invincible is exciting, many of the scenes lend themselves better the the animation medium.

Invincible Season 2’s Story Means The Pact Superhero Team Should Be Included

Invincible and The Pact team

Invincible season 2, part 2’s story has the perfect setup for the introduction of a popular crossover superhero team from the comics: The Pact. The Pact is a crossover team that features some of Image Comics’ most popular young heroes, with Invincible fighting alongside characters like Firebreather, ShadowHawk, and Zephyr. The team has taken on a variety of villains, including characters that have already appeared in Amazon Prime Video’s take on the Invincible universe, such as Doc Seismic. Doc Seismic has already returned once in season 2, meaning that it may be time for The Pact to form.

Mark first starts working with The Pact after the battle against Omni-Man in Chicago, meaning that Invincible season 2 is chronologically when he should join the team according to the comics. While Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible has made some comic changes, it would be nice to see the show keep The Pact storylines, as it is a nice break from the main story while further fleshing out the expansive superhero world of Invincible.

The Pact Could Carry A Spinoff After Invincible Season 2

One of the best things about introducing The Pact is that the team could carry its own spinoff after Invincible season 2. While Mark Grayson is the most popular member of The Pact, he is far from the only one, meaning that he doesn’t have to be part of every adventure that the team goes on. Because of this, Invincible season 2, part 2 could act as a launchpad for The Pact, getting them in front of audiences’ eyes before the team kicks off their own spinoff series.

Even if a TV show based on The Pact doesn’t happen, the individual members of the team could also carry their own spinoffs. Firebreather and ShadowHawk have both headlined their own Image Comics series, while Zephyr has appeared in all kinds of other titles. These characters are developed enough to carry their own stories within their own bubbles, with their arcs all being part of the broader Invincible universe.

Why The Pact Is Important For Mark Grayson (Even If It Isn’t A Crossover)

The Pact’s role in Invincible‘s story is incredibly important for Mark Grayson, meaning that the team should be added to the series even if it isn’t a crossover. According to series creator Robert Kirkman, Image Comics crossover characters won’t appear in Invincible, as adding them to the TV show makes things far more complicated. However, The Pact could still exist as a superhero team that consists of characters solely from the Invincible universe rather than the Image Comics universe, as the team is important to Mark Grayson’s character arc regardless.

10 Invincible Crossover Characters That We Want To See In The Amazon Show

The Invincible comic series is part of the larger Image Comics Universe, and these 10 crossover characters from the comics should be in Amazon’s show.

One of the main themes of Invincible season 2 so far has been Mark Grayson’s struggle with the responsibility of being one of the most powerful superheroes on Earth. In the absence of his father, Mark has had to work alongside Cecil much closer, as well as some of the other superheroes, something that he isn’t very good at. Having Invincible join The Pact in Invincible season 2, part 2 could be exactly what Mark needs to continue to grow in his Amazon character arc.

Invincible Season 3 Poster

Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson,  a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father’s legacy isn’t as glitzy and glamorous as he’s been led to believe.
